Autism-CHIME

Autism‑CHIME stands for Children’s Improvisational Music Therapy Evaluation. It is a major UK research project and clinical trial designed to evaluate whether improvisational music therapy can improve social communication and wellbeing in autistic children.

Autism‑CHIME is not a charity or service, but a large-scale research study run by the Cambridge Institute for Music Therapy Research (Anglia Ruskin University) in collaboration with the Autism Research Centre (University of Cambridge).

Russet House School took part in an Autism-CHIME study in 2025, to gain evidence-based insights that will enhance our students learning outcomes. Research participation exposes staff to the latest instructional techniques and educational strategies. We are proud to have contributed to a broader movement to improve education nationally, strengthen the evidence base and help the wider community of educators. This reflects our school ethos of continuous learning and improvement.

Below you can read the letter of thanks addressed to us at Russet House School. They will be continuing their study in other schools, we look forward to sharing the studies findings with the parents of Russet House once we have them.
