Outdoor Learning Classroom

At Russet House School, we are in the process of creating our very own outdoor learning classroom to offer our children a fantastic learning experience in the outdoors.

Many of our children are far happier to be outside and to access their learning practically. An Outdoor Classroom would create these wider learning opportunities.

Over the past few years, the staff at Russet House have been working tirelessly with local businesses, seeking donations and materials either free or at a low cost. A huge heartfelt thanks goes to White Landscapes, Enfield Skips, Thompsons, FG Fencing, Lawsons, a school art project donated by Gilly Taylor and Sue Collins (an ex- valued member of Russet staff).

We are delighted to say that we have formed a strong relationship with Capel Manor who have made the dream a reality. Their tireless support from the design process to the huge number of hours and expertise donated to hard landscaping has been truly appreciated.

We now have plans to complete the space with the pupils’ artwork, sensory materials, seating, planting and a willow arch made from the grounds of Capel Manor and Forty Hall. We will be ready to use the space in the Summer Term.
